Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Positive urine culture for Escherichia coli Positive clinical manifestations of urinary tract infection Fever Renal scan indicating acute pyelonephritis
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: History of recurrent urinary tract infection Renal scarring on the baseline scan Frequent vomiting Severe dehydration Sepsis Systemic hypertension Neurogenic bladder Obstructive uropathy Low baseline serum levels of vitamin A Vesicoureteral Reflux grade >III Urinary calculi Voiding dysfunctions Any unilateral or bilateral renals anatomical anomaly
