Intervention 1: risperidone (up to 6 mg/day) plus lovastatin (up to 20 mg/day). Intervention 2: Risperidone (up to 6 mg/day) plus placebo.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: a diagnosis of schizophrenia by DSM-V diagnostic criteria, aged between 18 and 66 years old, not currently taking a statin medication. Exclusion criteria: Taken long acting antipsychotics in the last 2 months before onset of this study, psychotic disorder due to a general medical condition or substance use, and pregnant.
