Interventions

Intervention 1: Intervention group: Patients in the intervention group receive a loading dose of 1 µg/kg dexmedetomidine over 10–15 minutes before anesthesia induction, followed by a maintenance dose

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age above 18 years Patients undergoing elective coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Hypersensitivity to dexmedetomidine Acute liver or kidney disease before surgery Patients with severe heart failure (EF < 30%) Patients with a history of cardiac rhythm disorders (e.g., second- or third-degree heart block) Patients with a history of long-term use of sedatives or opioids

MeasureTime frame
Duration of patient intubation after surgery. Timepoint: Continuous monitoring to measure time to extubation. Method of measurement: Observation.;Length of time a patient stays in the intensive care unit after surgery. Timepoint: Time of patient discharge from the intensive care unit. Method of measurement: Observation.
