Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: patients diagnosed with acute cerebral ischemic stroke (within the first day that caused symptoms), age more than 18 years old; high serum uric acid on admission and hospitalized in Imam Reza university hospital,Tabriz, Iran. Exclusion criteria: severe post stroke disability; current morbidness disability and any condition that could interfere with prognosis evaluation such as: chronic disease of kidney, liver or hematology and cancers. In addition, gout symptoms and the history of recent treatment with allopurinol were considered as exclusion criteria.

Functional status after stroke. Timepoint: At hospitalization(0), and after 3 months(1). Method of measurement: Functional status score based on NIHSS(National institute of health stroke scale).
