Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 12–40 years of age 0.019 x 0.025-in stainless steel archwire inserted in 0.022-inch slot brackets There is no space between upper incisors Informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Poor oral hygiene Upper incisors with abnormal size Patients who drink large amount of coffee or tea Smoking patients

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Percentage of remaining force of elastomeric chains. Timepoint: Initial force, after 5 minutes and after 1 and 4 weeks of intraoral use. Method of measurement: Universal testing machine.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Color changes of elastomeric chains. Timepoint: before intervention and after 1 and 4 weeks of intraoral use. Method of measurement: spectrophotometer (Spectroshade Micro,MHT,Italy).
