Interventions

Intervention 1: Metformin tablet, 1500 mg/day for 6 weeks. Intervention 2: Pioglitazone 30 mg/day for 6 weeks.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: 1- Women with PCOS diagnosed by the Rotterdam consensus criteria (Presence of 2 of the following 3 conditions: i. amenorrhea /oligomenorrhea ii. clinical or biochemical evidence of hyperandrogenism iii. Polycystic ovaries on ultrasound examination), 2-mild to moderate major depressive disorder based on DSM-IV criteria 3- score on hamilton depression scale 27. Exclusion criteria: 1-psychotic symptoms 2-presence of other disorders on other axes 3- receiving any psychotropic medications 4-receiving antidepressant medications during the last month 5-thyroid diseases 6-history of cardiovascular disease 7- breast feeding or pregnancy 8- hyperprolactinemia 9-cushing syndrome 10-congenital adrenal hyperplasia, 11- infertility, 12 life-threatening illness

Severity of depression. Timepoint: Baseline,3 and 6 weeks after beginig of treatment. Method of measurement: Hamiltion Depression Rating Scale 17-Item.;Serum testosterone(total & free). Timepoint: Before intervention and 6 weeks after intervention. Method of measurement: Serological test with Electro Komolomynsans method with using of the company's ROCHE kits.;Serum Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulphate (DHEAS). Timepoint: Before intervention and 6 weeks after intervention. Method of measurement: Serological test with Electro Komolomynsans method with using of the company's ROCHE kits.
