18 Years to 45 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Iranian nationality Minimum education at primary level Primiparous Age 18-45 years Singleton pregnancy Cephalic presentation of the fetus Body mass index between 18 - 30 kg/m² Gestational age of 34 weeks (confirmed by first-trimester sonography) No other interventions performed on the perineal area Willingness to have a vaginal delivery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Contraindications for vaginal delivery (placenta previa, cephalopelvic disproportion, abnormal presentation) High risk of preterm birth (cerclage surgery, history of threatened abortion in recent pregnancy) Fetal abnormalities diagnosed by ultrasound High risk pregnancy (high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, preeclampsia) Chronic constipation, chronic cough, pelvic organ prolapse before pregnancy History of urinary and anal incontinence before pregnancy Having muscle diseases (myasthenia gravis) and connective tissue diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus) History of surgery in the pelvic, perineal, or anal areas Lesions in the vulvar area such as varicose veins, vulvar leukoplakia, genital warts, and genital herpes Having a mental illness (by self-reported) Smoking (cigarettes, hookah) Vegetarian diets Regular and specific exercises in the perineum and pelvis area.

MeasureTime frame
The mean score of pelvic floor function. Timepoint: Before the intervention, week 6 postpartum. Method of measurement: PFDI-20 (Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory-20).;Perineal injuries during delivery. Timepoint: Immediately after delivery. Method of measurement: Perineal injury checklist.

Duration of the second stage of labor. Timepoint: Immediately after delivery. Method of measurement: labor information form.;Perineal pain during fetal head delivery. Timepoint: Immediately after delivery. Method of measurement: VAS (Visual Analog Scale).
