Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria • Renal transplant patients • Baseline biopsy on day of transplantation • Inclusion on day of first protocol biopsy (month 3) in case of stable renal function • Written informed consent Are the trial subjects under 18? no Number of subjects for this age range: F.1.2 Adults (18-64 years) yes F.1.2.1 Number of subjects for this age range 45 F.1.3 Elderly (>=65 years) yes F.1.3.1 Number of subjects for this age range 5

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria • Age > 75 • Unstable or acute congestive heart failure (Ejection fraction < 45%) • Lung disease • Liver disease • GFR < 30 ml/min • Diabetes Mellitus • Past history of lactic acidosis • Alcohol abuse
