Inclusion criteria: - Patients with congestive heart failure NYHA class not less than II - Men and women in the age of > 18 and > 80 years old - Signed consent form Are the trial subjects under 18? no Number of subjects for this age range: F.1.2 Adults (18-64 years) yes F.1.2.1 Number of subjects for this age range F.1.3 Elderly (>=65 years) yes F.1.3.1 Number of subjects for this age range

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - "High urgent" listing for cardiac transplantation - History of sarcoidosis, nephrolithiasis - Pregnancy, Lactation - Concomitant medication of vitamin D > 25µg/d - Vitamin D blood levels >75 nmol/L
