Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients requiring percutaneous K-wires during their orthopaedic surgery will be invited to participate. Patients who are unable to understand the patient information leaflet and provide a valid consent will be excluded. Are the trial subjects under 18? Number of subjects for this age range: F.1.2 Adults (18-64 years) yes F.1.2.1 Number of subjects for this age range F.1.3 Elderly (>=65 years) yes F.1.3.1 Number of subjects for this age range

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients will also be excluded if there is a proven high risk of infection e.g. patients with an open, contaminated wounds, poor local skin condition, immunosuppresed patients, and other co-morbidities which may increase the possibility of an infection.
