Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - clinical signs of acute cholecystitis - acute cholecystitis identified by transabdominal ultrasound - elevated infection parameters (CRP >3mg/dl and/or Leucocytes >12 G/l and/or fever > 38,5°C) - age 18 - 90 years Are the trial subjects under 18? no Number of subjects for this age range: F.1.2 Adults (18-64 years) yes F.1.2.1 Number of subjects for this age range F.1.3 Elderly (>=65 years) yes F.1.3.1 Number of subjects for this age range

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - potential other cause of infection - pregnancy - psychiatric disease - Penicillin incompatibillity - Fluorochinolon incompatibillity - renal failure - AIDS - liver cirrhosis - seizure disorder
