Inclusion criteria: Signed informed consent, exsudative age-related macula degeneration, surgery of cataract or ocular surgery including vitrectomy Are the trial subjects under 18? no Number of subjects for this age range: F.1.2 Adults (18-64 years) yes F.1.2.1 Number of subjects for this age range F.1.3 Elderly (>=65 years) yes F.1.3.1 Number of subjects for this age range

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Prior/concomitant treatment (laser therapy, vitrectomy, anti-VEGF medication, concurrent ocular inflammation, glaucoma, diabetes mellitus, malignant tumor, women capable of bearing children, intake of cortisone

Main Objective: to investigate cytokine levels in ocular fluid and blood in patients with exsudative age-related macular degeneration and change during treatment with intravitreal Ranibizumab (Lucentis®);Secondary Objective: to investigate cytokine levels in ocular fluid in control patients, gene analysis of patients with exsudative age-related macular degeneration;Primary end point(s): intraocular VEGF levels at the end of treatment (end of treatment is a clinical decision based on disease activity)
