Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Main Objective: To study free radical (nitric oxide, superoxide), biochemical (glucose, lipids, HBA1c) and inflammatory (IL-6, adiponectin) markers and vascular function in patients with impaired glucose tolerance compared with healthy controls. ;Secondary Objective: We will monitor the effects of pioglitazone administered for 12 weeks on these markers.; Primary end point(s): Primary outcomes: Improved nitric oxide bioactivity, increased adiponectin levels and reduced IL-6 levels. Secondary outcomes: Improved vascular reactivity with pioglitazone.
