Inclusion criteria: Age >= 18 yrs Vitamin D level of =65 years) yes F.1.3.1 Number of subjects for this age range

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Serum creatinine > 200 umol/L Liver function tests >3 x upper limit of normal Corrected calcium >2.55 mmol/L or <2.15 mmol/L Metastatic malignancy Inability to give informed consent

Main Objective: To ascertain whether vitamin D improves endothelial function in type 2 diabetes, as measured by flow-mediated dilatation of the brachial artery;Secondary Objective: To ascertain whether vitamin D reduces pulse wave velocity, improves insulin sensitivity and alters renin-angiotensin system parameters in type 2 diabetics;Primary end point(s): Last visit of patient
