Data suggesting participation of resistin, a new discovered protein, whose biological significance is still uncertain, in oxidative processes have been sporadically published. One is tempted to speculate that mononuclear blood cells would release this protein into the systemic circulation, where it acts as a buffer system, with some anti-oxidant mechanism. Consequently, a treatment with antioxidant substances (vitamin C) might reduce resistin levels. MedDRA version: 6.1 Level: PT Classification
