Conditions

The combined forces generated by the triceps surae muscles causes non-uniform strain within the human triceps aponeuroses. This may cause non-uniform tendon force that would result in intratendinous shear strain that could possibly contribute to tendinopathy. This hypothesis has not been tested previously and therefore, we intend to use positron emission tomography to measure tendon and muscle activation with regional glucose uptake within the tendon and muscles.

Inclusion criteria: Men BMI =65 years) no F.1.3.1 Number of subjects for this age range

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Any chronic disease Any chronic medical defect or injury which hinder/interfere everyday life Any regularly/periodically used medication for a disease Previous use of anabolic steroids, additives or any other substrates Smoking of tobacco, taking of snuffs, or use of narcotics.

Main Objective: The purpose of the present study is to investigate whether isolated activation (via electrical stimulation) of an individual triceps surae muscle (medial gastrocnemius) results in region specific activity at the level of the free tendon. ;Secondary Objective: ;Primary end point(s): Primary variable in this study is glucose uptake in the tendon.
