The combined forces generated by the triceps surae muscles causes non-uniform strain within the human triceps aponeuroses. This may cause non-uniform tendon force that would result in intratendinous shear strain that could possibly contribute to tendinopathy. This hypothesis has not been tested previously and therefore, we intend to use positron emission tomography to measure tendon and muscle activation with regional glucose uptake within the tendon and muscles.
