Exclusion criteria

Main Objective: Surgically-induced inflammation is a significant source of post-operative pain. Clinical and experimental observation indicates that local anaesthetics, in addition to their analgesic properties, might play a role in reducing inflammation after surgery. Furthermore, there is evidence from animal studies that local anaesthetics have an inhibitory effect on the action of inflammatory mediators such as bradykinin and substance P. The aim of our study is to investigate the inhibitory effects of the local anaesthetics lignocaine, levobupivacaine and ropivacaine on the inflammatory flare in skin blood flow produced by intradermal injection of bradykinin and substance P. ;Secondary Objective: ;Primary end point(s): Cutaneous blood flow responses to intradermal injection of bradykin and substance P.;Main Objective: Surgically-induced inflammation is a significant source of post-operative pain.
