Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Written informed consent. All patients undergoing cardiac surgery with the use of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Expected non-compliance with the study protocol. 2. Any form of renal replacement therapy (e.g., maintenance hemodialysis for chronic kidney disease stage G5d, peritoneal dialysis) or previous kidney transplantation. 3. Patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) diagnosed within 30 days prior to surgery according to the KDIGO criteria.

Investigation of the impact of postoperative acute kidney injury on health-related quality of life 365 days after cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), as assessed by the Physical Component Summary (PCS) of the SF-36 Health Survey.

Comparison of health-related quality of life between patients with and without postoperative acute kidney injury at postoperative days 28, 90, and 180 following cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), as assessed by the SF-36 Health Survey. Assessment of all-cause mortality up to 365 days postoperatively, determined through follow-up telephone interviews on postoperative days 28, 90, 180, and 365. Assessment of major cardiovascular complications requiring hospitalization, including stroke, acute myocardial infarction, new-onset cardiac arrhythmias, decompensated heart failure, and interventions for peripheral arterial disease (PAD), through follow-up telephone interviews on postoperative days 28, 90, 180, and 365. Assessment of infections requiring hospitalization through follow-up telephone interviews on postoperative days 28, 90, 180, and 365.
