Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adequate German language skills to provide informed consent and understand all study instructions and questionnaires.

Exclusion criteria: Neurological disorders Cardiovascular diseases Uncorrected visual impairments Intolerance to virtual reality applications (VR intolerance/cybersickness) Pregnancy Acute suicidality Psychotic symptoms or psychotic disorders High dissociative tendency Substance abuse Bipolar disorder Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) Current use of psychotropic medication

MeasureTime frame
Classification performance (F1-score) of an AI model pre-trained on publicly available datasets of physiological fear responses (including the SpiderPhy dataset) and a randomly selected subset of data collected within the present study for distinguishing individuals with and without a Mini-DIPS-confirmed diagnosis of spider phobia. Model performance will be evaluated on the remaining independent test dataset, which is not used during model training.

Identification of potential predictors of response to VR-based exposure through exploratory analyses of demographic, psychological, and physiological variables. Treatment response will be operationalized as changes in spider-phobia-related questionnaire scores and Behavioral Avoidance Test (BAT) performance between pre- and post-assessment.
