Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Obstetrics and gynecology residents (1st to 6th semester) working at Nantes University Hospital; no prior experience with laparoscopic suturing tasks.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: History of neurological, cardiovascular, or musculoskeletal disorder; pregnancy; regular sports practice or physical therapy within the 3 months preceding the study.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Laparoscopic suturing performance assessed using the total score on the LapSim® virtual reality simulator (SUTT task), measured at pre-test (Week 0) and post-test (Week 7), following a 90-min occupational protocol.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
(1) Muscle electromyography (EMG) activity (trapezius, deltoid, biceps brachii, rectus abdominis) during simulated surgery; (2) Postural control (center of pressure displacement) via a force platform; (3) Perceived surgical workload assessed with the SURG-TLX questionnaire; (4) Lower-limb and upper-limb muscle strength assessed by 5-repetition maximum (5RM) test for hip flexors, knee extensors, shoulder flexors, and elbow flexors.
