Psychological Predictors of Postoperative Chronic Pain

Interventions

Group 1: Patients undergoing minimally invasive procedures are surveyed three times using different questionnaires about their pain, feelings, and attitudes.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Eligible participants are adult patients (=18 years) scheduled to undergo minimally invasive surgery at the participating departments of UMG and MHH. Inclusion requires sufficient German language proficiency to provide informed consent and to complete the study questionnaires, as well as the cognitive capacity to understand study procedures.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: -Language barriers or significant cognitive deficits -Pregnancy -Abuse of psychotropic substances (including cannabis dependence) -Opioid substitution therapy -Severe psychiatric or neurological disorders (psychotic or bipolar disorders, severe major depression, dementia, neurological diseases associated with pain dysregulation, e.g., multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke) -Inability to give informed consent -Planned postoperative mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit -Active infection in the surgical area
