Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Diagnosis of heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction Cardiac decompensation as the reason for referral or admission Previous inpatient treatment due to cardiac decompensation Written consent to participate from the patients Expected hospital stay of >5 days Ability to communicate in German

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Diagnosis of heart failure with preserved or moderately reduced ejection fraction Inpatient treatment due to a diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension and the need for inpatient therapy Inpatient treatment due to planned cardiac or thoracic surgery Lack of written consent or inability to communicate in German Critically ill patients, admission to the intensive care unit Treatment with cardiac assist devices (LVAD, BVAD, TAH) Disorientation regarding one’s own identity, time, or place
