| The aim of this study is to determine the sensitivity of video-EEG monitoring (VEM) within the presurgical evaluation of epilepsy with regard to the detection of interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) in patients with focal epilepsy. Particular emphasis will be placed on the interplay between seizure semiology, EEG findings, and MRI findings, as well as their influence on the indication for epilepsy surgery and the corresponding postoperative outcome. One component of this investigation is the comparison of patients with and without evidence of IEDs during VEM. Demographic and clinical characteristics, including age, duration of epilepsy, seizure type, neuroimaging findings (particularly MRI findings), and seizure frequency, will be systematically compared between these groups. | — |
