Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Cases: Blood culture-confirmed VRE bloodstream infection Controls: Detection of VRE in a culture-positive rectal/anal swab

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Polymicrobial bloodstream infection (VRE + VSE/linezolid-resistant enterococci/other non-enterococcal species) Cases: No documented targeted antimicrobial therapy Controls: Prior blood culture-confirmed VRE bacteremia

MeasureTime frame
Occurrence of a VRE bloodstream infection during hospitalization. Data collection via retrospective, anonymized chart review. The aim of the analyses is to investigate factors that might influence the occurrence of a VRE bloodstream infection.
