Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients with an odontogenic abscess that is surgically drained via an extraoral approach.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients in whom another mass lesion is identified during surgery and for whom no suitable material (pus) is therefore available. Patients with dementia or other cognitive impairments who are unable to give their consent to the study. Patients who do not consent to participating in the study for other reasons.
