Group 1: Clinical retrospective analysis of fully anonymized, pre-existing data from patients treated between 2020 and 2026 at the Department of Orthodontics, University Hospital Tübingen. Assessment

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Completely documented patient case of patient with class II malocclusion, treated with aligner with mandibular advancement, activator or function regulator according to Fränkel typ II. Lateral cephalometric radiographs (LCRs) taken before and after the therapy have to be present.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria is the use of a different functional orthopaedic appliance, an incomplete documentation and patients with syndromal diseases, cleft lip and palate or failure of eruption.

Dimensions of the posterior airway space (PAS), analysed using four different linear measurements on lateral cephalometric radiographs (LCRs). Comparison of lateral cephalometric radiographs (LCRs) taken before and after the functional orthodontic therapy (after about 12 month).	—
