Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Acute infections or orthopedic issues that make spiroergometric exercise testing impossible; the presence of a pacemaker or an ongoing pregnancy, as these conditions make it impossible to perform a bioimpedance analysis to assess body composition; insufficient knowledge of German, as this makes it impossible to complete the questionnaire; chronic pre-existing conditions, regular medication use, a blood donation within the past 56 days (see https://www.blutspendedienst-west.de/presse/faq-zum-blutspendedienst), or the use of allergy medications (antihistamines).

Comparison of the temporal concentration profiles of exercise-sensitive metabolites and proteins in blood, saliva, urine, and muscle tissue within 24 hours after intense physical exercise, with a particular focus on identifying kinetics that are comparable across tissues or tissue-specific.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Detection of significant changes in the concentrations of selected metabolites and proteins in blood, saliva, urine, and muscle tissue over a 24-hour period following intense physical exercise, compared to baseline levels. Relationship between external exercise parameters and biomarkers Association between external exercise parameters (e.g., heart rate, distance, calorie expenditure) and the temporal profiles of internal metabolic and proteomic biomarkers within 24 hours after exercise. Consistency of the temporal profiles and predictive power of saliva- and urine-based biomarkers compared to blood- and muscle-based biomarkers in reflecting exercise-induced physiological changes within 24 hours following intense physical exercise.
