Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients who underwent one or more contrast-enhanced ultrasound examinations at the Department of Radiology, Grosshadern/Innenstadt Hospital, between 2005 and 2020. A total of 8,500 to 15,000 patients are expected to be included in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Missing information regarding the clinical course. Missing image data sets in the PACS.

MeasureTime frame
The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the technical and clinical outcomes of contrast-enhanced ultrasound. This involves determining the success rate of the examination, i.e., the proportion of patients from whom a reliable set of image data was successfully acquired. In addition, complication rates are recorded, i.e., the proportion of patients who experienced complications during or after the examination. These parameters are recorded during and immediately after the examination, as well as in the subsequent data analysis, based on the PACS image data and clinical documentation.

In addition to the primary endpoints, the diagnoses made during ultrasound examinations are compared with findings from other imaging modalities and histological results to assess diagnostic accuracy. In addition, technical parameters of the examination, such as the contrast agent dose used, the transducers and devices employed, and the frequency of the examination, are evaluated. This data is extracted from archived PACS image data and clinical patient records and analyzed in a structured manner.
