Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients between the ages of 10 and 18 with SMA or Duchenne muscular dystrophy who are scheduled for spinal surgery at UMG, who routinely present at our clinic, and whose parents consent to their child’s inclusion in the study. As comparison controls, healthy subjects of the same age and gender as the patients, whose parents consent to their child’s inclusion in the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Children with a pacemaker Children with a magnetic implant (e.g., the MAGEC spinal implant) Children with intraocular or intraspinal metal fragments Children with claustrophobia Children with severe swallowing difficulties and a risk of aspiration Children being treated at UMG for another medical condition. Wearing braces is not a contraindication.
