Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Video-based parameters of habitual oral hygiene behaviour: total toothbrushing duration in seconds, regional brushing-time proportions, toothbrushing systematicity quantified using the Toothbrushing Systematics Index (TSI), and the type and temporal proportion of brushing movements classified as circular, horizontal, vertical, or non-specific. These parameters will be determined by analysing the video recordings obtained during habitual toothbrushing. Additional sequence-derived parameters will be analysed exploratorily. Intraoral scan-based plaque measures: planimetrically determined percentage plaque coverage before toothbrushing (P% pre) and after toothbrushing (P%post), as well as the resulting absolute plaque reduction in percentage points, defined as: ?Plaque=P%pre-P%post. These outcomes will be determined from the intraoral scans obtained before and after toothbrushing.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
regional stratification of plaque coverage before and after toothbrushing and of plaque reduction according to vestibular and oral tooth surfaces and sextants. In addition, the video-based behavioural parameters will be assigned to the corresponding tooth regions in order to exploratorily investigate region-specific associations between toothbrushing behaviour, residual plaque coverage, and plaque reduction.
