This study focuses on patients with acute and chronic wounds. In this context, a wound is defined as any loss of the barrier between the skin and the external environment, and thus the destruction of tissue on the body’s external surfaces (Dissemond & Kröger, 2020). This includes erosions and ulcerations of any origin, regardless of their duration and type of wound healing (primary or secondary) . Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The study population generally includes all patients at the university hospital, regardless of their underlying medical conditions or the reason for their treatment.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: However, for reasons of sensitivity, patients who are in the terminal phase of life or who cannot be examined by the research team for other critical reasons (life-threatening or unstable condition; psychosis, isolation, radiation exposure, etc.) are excluded from in-person interviews or examinations.

| The primary endpoint of the study is to describe the point prevalence of acute and chronic wounds at a German university hospital. Due to limited resources, data will be collected as part of the doctoral project in 2026 during the clinical stay of the participants selected via bed allocation, following their consent.
