Inclusion criteria: • Elective thoracic surgery • Signed informed consent form

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: known HIV, HBV, or HCV infection

The collected clinical parameters will be used to analyze potential influencing factors on the primary and secondary endpoints: Influence of sex, comorbidities, medication, and smoking status on: Cell viability Cell yield Success of cell culture establishment Quality and functionality of the generated tissue models Stratified analyses: Comparison of results between different patient groups (e.g., smokers vs. non-smokers, with vs. without relevant comorbidities)
