Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants were included if they had not sustained any injuries to their lower extremities in the past 6 months and had no functional limitations.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants were not allowed to have had any injuries to their lower extremities in the past 6 months. If they had sustained an injury more than 6 months ago but still had functional limitations, they were also excluded.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary endpoint of the study is to assess dynamic balance ability using the Y-Balance Test; to this end, the participants performed 16 tests on each of three different test days. These tests varied in terms of repetitions, using four different wedges placed under the heel with varying inclines (0°, 8.5°, 17.5°, and 25.5°) to manipulate ankle joint mobility. Each angle was performed twice per leg.

MeasureTime frame
The secondary endpoint was active and passive ankle mobility. The Knee-to-Wall test was performed to assess active mobility. For this test, the participants stood on the test device while the tester slid a sheet of paper under the participant’s heel. The participant then lifted the passive leg and used the knee of the active leg to push a wooden board as far forward as possible. The test is stopped as soon as the tester can pull the sheet of paper out from under the heel because the heel lifts off the ground due to insufficient ankle joint mobility. This test is performed twice per leg. Passive mobility is assessed in the Isomed2000 while the subject is lying down. The subject is securely strapped into the isokinetic device as specified. A tester moves the foot to the maximum extension and maximum flexion positions. The subject is asked to indicate when they feel that the maximum range of motion has been reached.
