Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with postlingual sensorineural hearing loss Signed and dated informed consent form Normal anatomy of the auditory pathway and the cochlea

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Failure to meet the inclusion criteria insufficient knowledge of the German language prelingual, severe hearing loss

MeasureTime frame
Postoperative phoneme discrimination rate (percentage of correctly identified phonemes per test list of the Freiburg monosyllabic speech test). Assessed at initial activation and at 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 24 months postoperatively. Data collection by standardized implementation of the Freiburg monosyllabic speech test in routine audiological conditions with additional audio recording of responses and phonetic transcription for phoneme based analysis. WHAT? Postoperative phoneme discrimination rate (percentage of correctly identified phonemes per test list of the Freiburg monosyllabic speech test for each participant ). WHEN? Initial activation, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, 24 months postoperatively HOW? Standardized Implementation of the freiburg monosyllabic speech test in routine clinical conditions with additional audio recording of patient responses and phonetic transcription to determine phoneme discrimination rate.

Association between phoneme discrimination rate and subjective listening effort WHEN? At each study visit after completion of speech testing HOW? Assessment using the Adaptive Categorical Listening Effort Scaling (ACALES) as a paper-based questionnaire after completion of the hearing test 3. WHAT? Influence of language proficiency on phoneme discrimination rate and additional test outcomes. WHEN? At the first study visit. HOW? Self-assessment questionnaire according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (GER) using a six-point rating scale.
