Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety as measured by the German version of the shortened 21-item “Depression Anxiety Stress Scales” (Lovibond & Lovibond, 2011; Nilges & Essau, 2015). Furthermore, headache management will be measured using the shortened “Headache Management Self-Efficacy Scale”(6 items; French et al., 2000; Graef et al., 2015). Believes about stress will be measured by the “Stress Mindset Measure” (8 items; Crum et al., 2013). For the intervention group, a baseline measurements will be taken, another measurement before each video session and one week after the training has finished. A follow-up assessment will be carried out six weeks later. For the waiting-list control group, baseline measurements will be taken and repeated four weeks later.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Regarding the stress-mindset measurement, short-term effects will be examined. Participants receive specific input and an exercise enhancing a more stress-is-enhancing mindset in one of the video sessions. In this session, participants` stress mindset is measured before and after the session, to test for short-term effects of the stress mindset intervention. 2. We will examine scores from the “Headache Disability Inventory” (Bauer et al., 1999; Jacobson et al., 1994) as well as the Headache Impact Test (Kosinski et al., 2003; Martin et al., 2004) for exploratory analyses. 3. For exploratory purposes, we will collect a range of demographic information (e.g., age, sex, employment status, degree of disability).
