Group 1: In the foam rolling condition, the posterior shank musculature of the right leg was treated using a foam roller. Five sets of 30 seconds were performed, each separated by 30 seconds of rest.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria were age of at least 18 years and a healthy general condition.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria were pregnancy as well as any known neurological, cardiovascular, or orthopedic disorders.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome was the change in active weight-bearing ankle dorsiflexion of the treated leg assessed using the knee-to-wall test before and immediately after each condition.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcomes were changes in active hip flexion range of motion assessed by the active straight leg raise and active shoulder flexion range of motion. In addition, possible remote and contralateral effects on body regions not directly treated by the intervention were investigated.
