Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Target criterion: Potassium concentration at various centrifugation time points (in both lithium heparin and serum sample tubes). Testing time points: Immediately after blood collection, as well as 2, 4, 6, 8, and 24 hours later. Measurement method: Potassium is measured using indirect potentiometry with an ion-selective electrode (ISE) on the CobasPro (Roche Diagnostics).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Differences in potassium concentrations at t0 (immediate centrifugation) compared to various measurement time points after centrifugation (by material and storage condition) 2. Differences in potassium concentrations at t0 (immediate centrifugation) compared to various measurement time points after centrifugation (comparison between materials) 3. Differences in potassium concentrations at t0 (immediate centrifugation) compared to different measurement times after centrifugation (comparison between storage conditions: 4°C, room temperature) Measurement method: Potassium is measured using indirect potentiometry with an ion-selective electrode (ISE) on the CobasPro (Roche Diagnostics).
