Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Apart from the age requirement of 40 and over, the same inclusion criteria apply as for a regular, voluntary blood donation. Furthermore, consent to "research on surplus material" (as part of the regular "donor questionnaire") is required. Once this consent has been given, agreement to the study-specific "information sheet and informed consent form" must also be provided.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Age under 40 years and the exclusion criteria for regular, voluntary blood donation. Lack of consent to "research on surplus material" or to the study-specific "information sheet and consent form".

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
During blood donations from healthy volunteers, excess material (serum and leukocytes) is examined for the presence of infectious diseases and clonal hematopoiesis. The primary goal is to investigate the relationship between latent infectious diseases and the presence of clonal hematopoiesis.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Investigation of immune cell functionality in healthy subjects with/without latent infectious disease. Identification of mutations predominantly found in subjects with/without latent infectious disease and correlation with immune cell functionality. Correlation of inflammatory mediators in the blood with clonal hematopoiesis and immune cell functionality.
