Interventions

Group 1: This clinical prospective single-arm pilot study will include 20 adult patients with periodontitis and pathologically mobile mandibular incisors who are able to provide informed consent.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age = 18 years, = 12 remaining teeth, periodontitis Stage III/IV, no active periodontal therapy within the past 2 years, informed consent, at least one mandibular incisor with mobility Grade II or III in combination with a clinical attachment loss (CAL) = 5 mm and at least 50% relative alveolar bone loss at the affected tooth.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pregnancy, pronounced bruxism, region of teeth 33 to 43: a crossbite, overbite, the presence of implants

Splint survival at 1 and 2 years: 1) Functional survival 2) Survival until debonding / fracture

1) Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-G14) summary score for oral health–related quality of life before splint insertion and at 1 and 2 years 2) Periodontal stability of the splinted teeth at 1 and 2 years
