Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The primary outcome is the stiffness level of the myofascial tissue, measured using a tissue compliance measurement device (IndentoPro) before and after the single intervention. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Measurement of psychophysiological stress parameters (including electrodermal activity, heart rate, blood volume pulse, heart rate variability, etc.) using a bio- and neurofeedback device (Nexus 10, Biotrace+) before and after the intervention. Self-referential encoding task (SRET; Ramel et al., 2007; adjective list with 10 positive and 10 negative words taken from Williams & Broadbent, 1986) to measure negative memory bias, conducted between the two rounds of interventions and immediately afterward. Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS; Watson et al., 1988; German version by Krohne et al., 1996) to assess affects after the intervention. Evaluation of credibility and pain after the intervention: To evaluate the credibility of the interventions, study participants will be asked after their completion how logical this intervention seems to them at that moment. They will rate this question on a scale from 1 (not logical at all) to 9 (very logical). Similarly, study participants will retrospectively rate the pain caused by the intervention on a scale from 1 = "no pain at all" to 9 = "very severe pain." | — |
