Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Elective open vascular groin surgery with arterial exposure

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Inability to receive standard perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis as well as pregnancy

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Occurrence of surgical site infections (SSI), classified according to the criteria of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as superficial, deep, or organ/space infection, within 10 ± 2 days after the index operation.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcomes include postoperative morbidity and clinical course parameters, including: - Overall postoperative morbidity assessed using the Comprehensive Complication Index (CCI) - Duration of intensive care unit stay - Total length of hospital stay - Type and duration of postoperative antibiotic therapy - Wound-related complications (e.g., lymphatic fistula, hematoma, seroma, wound dehiscence) - Vascular or graft-related complications (e.g., thrombosis, embolism, stenosis) - Reoperations or radiological interventions during the index hospital stay - Nosocomial infections (e.g., pneumonia, urinary tract infection, bloodstream infection) - Myocardial infarction - Pulmonary embolism - Stroke - Hospital readmissions within 30 days
