Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Residents of the participating long-term residential care organisations may participate if they are living in the facility at the time of data collection. Residents must be able to understand the survey questions and respond verbally in German. Staff members may participate if they are employed in a health or nursing profession in one of the participating organisations and are actively involved in the practice development process. Staff must have sufficient German language skills to participate in surveys, reflection meetings or interviews. Managers and key personnel may participate if they hold a leadership or professionally responsible role within the organisation and are involved in the development process. Relatives may participate if they have regular contact with the organisation and the resident and are willing and able to take part in an interview conducted in German. All participants must be adults and must provide written informed consent. In cases of limited decision-making capacity, consent will be obtained from the legally authorised representative in accordance with legal requirements.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Residents will be excluded if they have severe cognitive or communication impairments that prevent them from understanding the survey content or expressing themselves verbally. Individuals will also be excluded if they do not have sufficient German language skills to participate in surveys or interviews. Staff members or relatives will be excluded if they are not involved in the development process or do not have regular contact with the organisation. Individuals who do not provide informed consent, or whose legally authorised representative does not provide consent, will not be included in the study.
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The primary outcome of the study is the change in person-centred practice in daily care. This outcome is measured using the eight internationally developed Person-Centred Key Performance Indicators. Data are collected at four time points: T0, T1, T2 and T3. Data collection includes a standardised resident survey with eight Likert-scale items, person-centred narratives provided by residents, structured observations of nursing presence in communal areas over a 30-minute period, and a review of nursing documentation combined with short staff interviews. In addition, written person-centred moments documented by staff members are analysed. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The secondary outcome is the achievement of individually defined movement-related goals formulated during the action cycles according to SMART criteria. Goal attainment is assessed at T0, T1, T2 and T3 using a Likert-scale item and additional free-text comments. | — |
