Acute infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract caused by airborne pathogens

Interventions

Group 1: 50 healthy probants are exercised on an ergometer. They wear different masks during the task. Particle emission is measured as particle concentration in a sealed measuring chamber.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Legal age • Consent to participate in the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Chronic respiratory diseases (e.g., non-seasonal asthma, COPD) • Acute symptomatic respiratory infections • Physically debilitating heart disease (coronary heart disease, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia) • Other physically debilitating conditions, such as renal insufficiency, immunosuppression, or neurological deficits • Smoking

MeasureTime frame
The exposure lasts for 10 to 15 minutes for each mask type. During this time, a detectable concentration curve can be expected in the measuring chamber. The particle concentration is recorded using aerosol spectrometers.
