Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Identification of Porphyromonas gingivalis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Samples are collected as part of a screening of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and a control group by taking a microbiological swab from the dental sulcus. In the same procedure, the Periodontal Screening Index is determined with a WHO probe and recorded in writing. After collection, the microbiological tests are kept cooled at 4°C for up to 1 hour and then stored at -20°C. Next, qualitative PCR is performed. Samples testing positive for P. gingivalis are further analyzed by qPCR. The data are compiled in encrypted form and subjected to statistical analysis.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary endpoints of the study are the determination of semiquantitative differences of P. gingivalis and their correlation with the PSI in patients with and without rheumatoid arthritis.
