Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
A) The aim of the study is to document the characteristics, reasons for presentation, and challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of patients attending the university clinic for TMD diagnostics. B) The evaluation of the effectiveness of individualized conservative treatment approaches in patients with complex temporomandibular disorders, particularly using adjusted mandibular splints with canine guidance (printed, milled, or vacuum-formed), either alone or in combination with manual physiotherapy, speech therapy, and/or pharmacological pain management.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
A: • Which patients represent a diagnostic and/or therapeutic challenge? • In which areas is intersectoral exchange important for the diagnosis of TMD? • What can be the causes of problems in the diagnosis and treatment of TMD patients? • Factors influencing patients’ decision to seek TMD diagnosis at a university clinic • Is the primary endpoint dependent on the different diagnoses (myofascial pain, arthralgia, disc displacement, degenerative disease)? • Are there occlusal dysfunctions in addition to the diagnosis? B: • Identification of diagnostic subgroups for which conservative therapy is particularly promising • Analysis of possible reasons why previous therapy attempts were not successful •Identification of diagnostic subgroups with reduced therapy response • Association between specific TMD diagnoses and the most suitable conservative therapy approach
