Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • residing in Bremen • aged 18 years and above • moderate to high levels of psychological distress (K-10 score = 15) • speaks a language covered by the lay helpers • refugees and asylum seekers including persons with a temporary residence permit or a residence permit under Sections 22, 23, 24, 25.1, and 25.2

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Presence of a current problem requiring different treatment: acute suicidal tendencies, severe cognitive impairment, acute neurological conditions or severe mental disorders (e.g., psychotic or substance-abuse disorders) or ongoing outpatient or partially inpatient psychotherapy
