Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patient age >18 years, retrospective evaluation of all patients who underwent major liver resection between January 1, 2006, and December 31, 2024.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient age < 18 years, combination of major liver resection with another oncological procedure, missing or insufficient information regarding pre- or postoperative PPI therapy based on retrospective data

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary endpoint is morbidity after major liver resection in patients with and without PPI therapy. This is assessed using the Clavien-Dindo classification for postoperative complications in the period from surgery to discharge.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Biliary complications after major liver resection in patients with and without PPI therapy 2. Number of microorganisms per patient in collected bile duct swabs
