Interventions

Group 1: Women are asked on the maternity wards postpartum whether they experience symptoms of pelvic floor descent and/or a wide hiatus. All women who answer affirmatively are offered an appointment

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: women with symptoms of pelvic organ prolaps postpartum

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Retained placental tissue (ultrasound finding) Infection (laboratory evidence: elevated leukocytes and/or CRP) Wound dehiscence (clinical finding) Edema formation (clinical finding) Language barrier Insufficient ability to change the pessary independently

Design outcomes

Primary

Measure	Time frame
Assessment of the change in the subjectively perceived feeling of prolapse through the use of the pessary at the time points T0p, T1p, and T2p. The subjectively perceived feeling of prolapse is recorded using the validated PGI-I (Patient Global Impression of Improvement) questionnaire.	—

Secondary

Measure	Time frame
Recording of changes of more than 1 point in the prolapse score of the German Pelvic Floor Questionnaire, Postpartum Module (corresponding to the Minimal Important Difference indicated in the literature, which is significant for patients). Recording of side effects and complications, such as bad smelling vaginal discharge, irritations, erosions, bleeding, uncomfortable sensation while wearing, pain, slipping of the pessary, incontinence, urinary tract infections. Recording of the dropout rate.	—
