Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Data from male and female participants aged 18 years and older Medically healthy patients or patients with systemic conditions in whom periodontal therapy was not contraindicated Presence of at least one periodontal pocket with a probing depth greater than 6 millimeters No previous or performed surgical periodontal therapy during the study period Treatment period of at least 60 months

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Current or previous surgical periodontal therapy Systemic diseases with a contraindication to periodontal therapy Treatment period of less than 60 months Patients who were treated and/or attended follow-up visits for less than five years

The aim of the present research project was therefore to investigate whether repeated non-surgical periodontal therapy in teeth with probing depths of at least 6 millimeters represents an effective alternative to the surgical interventions recommended in the EFP guideline.
