Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Active-duty military personnel of the German Armed Forces with a diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder (ICD-10: F43.1).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Acute suicidality, acute substance intoxication, or the presence of hallucinations.

Reduction of PTSD symptoms at post-treatment and follow-up assessments, operationalized using the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5; Krüger-Gottschalk, 2017) and the International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ; Christen et al., 2021). Frequency and quality of intrusive memories. Intrusive memories will be assessed using trauma diaries provided to participants, in which they document the occurrence of intrusive memories in everyday life, briefly outline the content of each intrusion, and rate both the here-and-now quality and the subjectively experienced distress on a 10-point Likert scale (Iyadurai et al., 2018). Assessment period: Throughout the entire inpatient stay. Eligibility rate, defined as the proportion of individuals presenting at the Bundeswehr Hospital Hamburg who meet the study’s inclusion criteria. Recruitment rate, operationalized as the number of participants successfully enrolled within the recruitment period of the present pilot study (three years). Study retention and drop-out rate, defined as the proportion of enrolled participants who complete the assessment at time point T1, as well as the proportion of participants who discontinue participation prematurely from the group therapy setting. Trauma diary adherence, defined as the proportion of study days on which participants completed the intrusive-memory diary, as well as the overall completeness of diary entries across the observation period. This outcome serves to assess the feasibility and validity of diary-based assessments and is intended to function as a primary outcome measure in future confirmatory trials.	—
